ABOUT

James Gordon is a guitarist, singer, composer, and music lecturer who dabbles in making things alongside intense bouts of procrastination. Originally from Liverpool, he has been fortunate enough to play and record all over the UK and Europe with a variety of acts, from rock, metal and punk bands to more stripped back acoustic music.

James writes strange little songs about love and death and sea monsters... all the important things in life. His music ranges from acoustic singer-songwriter to folky horror to cinematic rock and has variously been described as: a cross between Queen, Def Leppard and Bryan Adams with a dash of Meatloaf; Supertramp merged with Tommy Emmanuel and Marillion; Twenty One Pilots-esque; Bon Jovi with a touch of H. P. Lovecraft; 80s hair metal meets Boston; and pound-shop Nick Cave. He's particularly fond of that last one.

One review called his work: "atmospheric rock and folk horror intent on rescuing the obvious with the bizarre."

He's currently a PhD candidate at the University of Nottingham studying music composition.
